Job Summary

The Laboratory Assistant II is responsible for serving and protecting patients by identify each patient, accurately collecting and processing patient samples, providing patient-centered care, and actively supporting patients and their families. Responsible for specimen receiving and stabilizing the samples, packaging send-outs, shipping, distribution of specimens within the laboratory, and clerical functions including, but not limited to, computer data entry, telephone reception, and other general lab functions.

 

Experience

  • Required: Minimum t wo (2) years of phlebotomy experience.
  • Preferred: Two ( 2) or more years of infant and children blood collection experience.

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent. Graduation from Phlebotomist Tech training program.
  • Preferred: Completion of some c ollege level courses.

Specialized Skills

  • Required: Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong critical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving skills. Be a team player; ability to operate lab equipment and proficient in human venipuncture techniques . Excellent analytical and organization skills; excellent critical thinking judgment, and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail, vigilance, poise, and composure in stressful situations. Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.

Licensure

  • Required: Certified Phlebotomist Tech 1
