Position reports directly to the Billing Supervisor performing duties as a medical collector ensuring the timely processing of clean claims.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Comply with all federal, state and local laws governing the submission of a clean claim.
• Work directly with the insurance company, healthcare provider and patient to get a claim processed and paid.
• Customer service, answering phones – billing questions
• Initiate collection follow-up of all unpaid or denied claims with the appropriate payor
• Send out billings for all insurances.
• Respond to written payor communications with appropriate action in a timely manor.
• Contact insurance companies regarding discrepancies in payments if necessary.
• Maintain multiple workflows to process claims as efficiently as possible.
• Obtain all missing documentation needed to submit a clean claim.
• Reviewing and appealing denied and unpaid claims.
• Assist patients in appealing denied claims.
• Manage aging reports.
• Shall perform other duties and tasks as directed by the Billing Supervisor and Director of Operations.
• Educational equivalent to High School Diploma
• 1 year experience in medical billing preferable
• Medical terminology helpful
• Computer and typing skills of at least 35 wpm
