Full Job Description
The Billing Administrative Assistant provides organization and clerical support to Neighborhood's Healthcare Billing Department in order to maintain effective business office operations. This position involves various functions that ensure phone calls, records, accounts, and payments for services rendered are well managed.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assistance with development of provider and billing department training materials.
- Answering phones, responding to patient requests or transferring to the necessary billing team
- Assist with compliance analyst audit research.
- Attend billing and PM system workshops as required.
- Attend staff meetings and organization in-services as required.
- Assist with mail distribution, scanning, printing of primary and secondary claims, and obtaining voicemail from calls made to the department
- Accurate logging of payments received from patients while maintaining current records and balances
- Complete credit card report
- Post patient payments
- Refunds to patients and health plans
- Keep self and others informed of departmental activities, deadlines, and promote mission and goals.
- Help patients understand billing and charges for which they are responsible
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills: Basic computer skills. Good organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Attention to detail and accuracy; motivated self-starter; enthusiastic and ability to maintain confidentiality required. Flexibility and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to learn new skills. professionalism and courtesy.
Education: High School Diploma/GED required.
Experience: General clerical experience preferred. Billing experience preferred
