The following entails the expectations of working as an E/M Coder for AE & Associates, LLC:

Job Description:

  • An Evaluation and Management (E/M) Coder is responsible for ensuring for abstracting all E/M, CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, modifiers, etc from the medical record documentation. Other responsibilities include ensuring the accuracy and completeness of clinical coding and validating the information from the health record. He/She may also be responsible for providing documentation feedback to providers, if needed. He/she may also utilize technical coding principals and APC reimbursement expertise to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM diagnoses and CPT codes for procedures. The E/M Coder is also responsible for leveling and assigning appropriate Evaluation & Management (E&M) CPT codes as directed by client guidelines (this may include injection, infusion, hydration, etc.).

Job Duties:

  • Abstract pertinent information from patient records. Assign the appropriate diagnosis and procedural codes (and modifiers), following client-specific and CMS guidelines
  • Obtain and maintain acceptable productivity/quality rates as defined per coding policy
  • Maintain required coding credentials during the course of employment and keep abreast of coding guidelines
  • Contribute to the general efficiency of the HIM coding department by, without limitation, submitting daily reports of work completion and productivity to project management
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures and support the Mission and Core Values of AE & Associates, LLC
  • Perform at a minimum 95% accuracy of audited charts
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) certified coding credential (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC ,or COC)
  • Two (2) years working in a medical coding experience (Hospital/ Facility coding experience preferred)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) system experience
  • Encoder experience

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract, Temporary

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

Experience:

  • medical coding: 2 years (Preferred)

Work Location: Remote
