Position Summary
As an integral member of the Wilmington Community Clinic’s Financial team, the Medical Biller is responsible for processing all charges submitted by providers, as well as reviewing and correcting denials, posting payments and closing each month in an accurate and timely manner.

Education & Experience:

• 1 to 3 years medical billing experience in a medical practice, clinic or hospital setting.
• Prior FQHC experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations, ICD-10, CPT coding rules, HMO’s, IPA’s, CCA, Medicare and medical billing procedures/regulations.
• Experience using an Electronic Health Record system.
• Experience with Greenway Intergy, a plus.

Essential Position Responsibilities:

• Knowledge of My Health L.A., Medicare, Medi-Cal, HMO, CCA, and other private insurance.
• Enter all charges, payments, credits, and adjustments by payer, in a timely manner.
• Ensure that all conditions for claims submission have been satisfied.
• ICD-10 and CPT coding.
• Follow-up with insurance carriers on unpaid claims.
• Apply the Sliding Fee Discount Program as appropriate.
• Answer billing and insurance questions from patients, staff and insurance companies.
• Identify and resolve patient billing complaints.
• Maintain strictest confidentiality, adhering to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills:

• Ability to remain organized while managing multiple details.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
• Knowledge of HIPAA privacy and confidentiality practices.
• Excellent customer service skills required.
