Job Summary
Medical Billing Specialists provide support services for the strategic side of our clinic and serve as a critical support role. This role will perform a wide array of duties and will be expected to regularly multi-task and pay critical attention to details. In addition to maintaining and developing a high degree of expertise in billing, your essential job functions include:
Medical Billing Specialist Primary Job Duties:
Reconcile encounters against daily log to ensure every visit is billed.
Review each claim to ensure that all insurance requirements are accurate before submitting to minimize denials and ensure prompt reimbursement.
Post and send out billing to payment source within a pre-determined hours of visit.
Making calls to various insurance companies for clarification on billing policies if uncertain.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in clinical competencies per scope of duties/practice.
Appropriately documents patient information in EMR according to policies and procedures and training manuals.
Provides daily support to EPIC end users through troubleshooting, coaching, and consulting to facilitate the implementation, integration, and optimal use of EPIC.
Identify, assess, troubleshoot EHR related issues as they occur, and see through to full resolution.
Responsible for the maintaining and monitoring of assigned EMR error pools/queues including but not limited to Overdue Results, Rx Errors, Open Charts, Orders, etc.
Maintains confidentiality of all patient and employee information to all except the other designated employees.
Informs of matters of general interest and problem areas as such are determined or discovered.
Participates in customer service related issues and adheres to customer service values.
Provide ongoing support and implementation of the EMR systems.
Develop processes to increase system adoption and streamline patient care. · Identify any policy and/or procedural issues that may affect performance.
Medical Billing Specialist Primary Attributes and Skills:
Possess standard, basic billing knowledge.
Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task.
Must maintain a level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Strong time management and organizational skills are required.
Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
Must be able to work well under pressure at times.
Must be self-motivated, a quick learner, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Educational and Experience Requirements and Preferences:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
Billing course experience preferred.
