POSITION DETAILS

JOB PURPOSE

To ensure correct diagnostic and procedural codes are applied to patient health records for utilization in data retrieval, analysis, and claims processing. Will provide administrative support in the interpretation and explanation of data. Will provide training and auditing to providers, coders, and other medical groups/department members.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review Provider entries for appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes before claim submission
  • Research and resolve general coding issues for billing office employees and providers
  • Provide ongoing education and training to all necessary staff, including documentation requirements for providers, coders for claim submission, and billing staff for claim denial resolution
  • Charge Entry-ensure charges are sent out timely for maximum payments
  • Missing Charges and Unbilled Encounters-Continuously track and report issues
  • Audits-Conducts quarterly audits on providers documentation/charges and offers feedback
  • Monitor regulations for coding updates and changes, providing education as necessary
  • Update NextGen systems-assist with notifying system administrator with code changes, additions, deletions, and edits
  • Assist with various projects as assigned by Manager

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Working on-site in the Revenue Cycle Department

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

  • Works under the direct supervision of the Revenue Cycle Manager

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

  • Permission to directly contact members of Revenue Cycle Team, Providers, and other Departments to resolve issues and advise/train.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

1-2 Years Certified Professional Coder (CPC)

1-2 Years Billing and Coding claims

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

3-5 Years CPC with Lead or Training experience. Experience in Cardiovascular codes. Experience with provider education.
