Duties

  • You will code Inpatient and/or Outpatient clinic records.
  • You will monitor progress notes for completeness.
  • You will ensure accuracy and completeness of patient medical records.
  • You will prepare reports and/or surveys.

  • Must be certified by either AAPC or AHIMA OR have completed an accredited college level coding program of at least two semesters and have a minimum of three years outpatient or inpatient abstract coding experience.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
  • Performing a variety of administrative functions associated with health information;
  • Coding Inpatient, Ambulatory Procedure Visits (APV), Outpatient Clinic records, and Professional Services rounds;
  • Assigning codes to diagnosis and procedures; and
  • Maintaining medical records for accuracy and completeness.

This is an obligated position. The former incumbent has return rights to this position under PL 86-585.
