Job Summary

The Patient Account Representative is responsible for maintaining current and accurate follow-up on patient accounts.

 

Experience

  • Required: Minimum one (1) year of experience with billing and follow-up of professional claims. Knowledge of all aspects of paper and electronic billing. Working knowledge with Medicare, Medi-Cal, Private, PPO and HMO.

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Some college or specific course related study.

Training

  • Required: Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 Coding.

Specialized Skills

  • Required: Ability to prioritize and complete duties in a timely manner to accomplish both individual and team goals. Open to change and be able to problem-solve. Ability to supply input and participate in team meetings. Strong verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal relationship and collaboration skills. Strong analytical and organization skills; excellent critical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving skills. Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English effectively at a level appropriate for the safe and effective performance of the job. Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area such as Microsoft Office Suite e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. Strong attention to detail, vigilance, poise, and composure in stressful situations.
