ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY


 

SUMMARY: Under the general supervision the Accounts Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate records, recording and invoicing.


 

SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):

  • Process invoices for area(s) assigned.
  • Keep accurate records of incoming and outgoing payments to the organization
  • Collaborate with team members to provide necessary financial reports to senior-level managers
  • Review financial information and documents
  • Review and process transactions based on given guidelines for completeness and accuracy.
  • Coordinate and communicate with staff in various departments to ensure complete and accurate documentation to back up transactions.
  • Prepare calculations based on information provided, set up accruals.
  • Research and assist with resolution of reconciliation variances.
  • Prepare and verify daily reports.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and records.
  • File documents for efficient retrieval.
  • Assist staff with questions and concerns regarding transactions within the assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Train staff as necessary to carry out effective operations of the area assigned.
  • Provide service through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.
  • Assists in preparing audit schedules and providing documentation in annual audits as necessary.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One to two years year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to develop, interpret and apply policies and procedures to variety of situations.
  • Requires a highly motivated self-starter with the ability to deliver a high level of interactive customer service, develop and maintain collaborative relationships inside and outside the department.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with high levels of accuracy and achieve goals within or ahead of established time frames.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively, be analytical, possess a keen attention to detail, as well as proficient computer skills using the Microsoft Suite of Office Applications, particularly Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a high demand area, handle multiple projects simultaneously with a great deal of accuracy, as well as proactively solve problems.

 

ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Foundation offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality1500 management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.


 

The Foundation also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Foundation and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Norman J. Priest Scholarship. In addition, the Foundation administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications. The Foundation contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.
