Purpose:
The Administrative Medical Assistant II will master the basic duties of the Administrative Medical Assistant I. The Administrative Medical Assistant II knows and consistently implements the organization’s mission and all approved policies, protocols and procedures.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions (other duties as assigned):
· Processes all out bound referrals in a timely manner, prioritizes urgent and STAT items appropriately.
· Ensures all pertinent paperwork regarding patient referrals is completed and documented in EMR.
· Provides effective insurance authorization as needed. Submits all necessary documentation and proper diagnosis to insurance when submitting authorization.
· Keeps patients informed of status of referrals/authorizations.
· Demonstrates excellent customer service skills, both on the phone and in person.
· Processes genetic testing and coordinates with pathology departments to ensure proper specimens are sent.
· Completes authorizations for outside pharmacy medications.
· Back up clinical MA when needed.
· Ensure all points of the AIDET tool are followed.
Effectively completes other duties and projects as assigned.

Experience, Qualifications/Education:
· High School Diploma or GED required.
· 2 – 5 years of experience in the medical field
· Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited educational institution preferred.
· Strong customer service background, preferably in healthcare environment.
· Current CPR certification required
· Knowledge of computer/telephony support, preferably in a health care environment
· Strong customer service background, preferably in health care environment
