Job Title: Alcohol Drug Counselor

Type: Full Time, with benefits

Location: San Bernardino, CA

Current Certification as an Alcohol Drug Counselor required.

Fluency in Spanish required.

Social Service Professionals, "the professional's choice" for careers in Social Work and Therapy, is looking for an Alcohol Drug Counselor, providing counseling services to clients with dual-diagnosis at a center dedicated to working with the HIV+ population in San Bernardino, CA. This position will develop, oversee and implement substance abuse recovery programs for recently homeless adults. Your efforts will make a difference in the lives of others everyday!

Responsibilities:

-Evaluate patients’ psycho-social needs and the impact of substance abuse on those needs;

-Evaluate patients’ family/social situation to support a treatment plan;

-Utilize community resources to assist patients’ psycho-social and homeless needs;

-Document history, care plans and prepare reports as needed.

Experience Requirements:

-2-3 years of experience providing addiction counseling.

Education Requirements:

-Completion of an approved training program for Alcohol Drug Counseling.

Qualifications:

-Current Certificate for Alcohol Drug Counseling.

-Current AHA-approved CPR card

-Skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, logic and reasoning, judgment, time management techniques and data entry;

-Ability to make improvements or take corrective action;

-Observe, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources;

-Organize, plan, and prioritize work;

-Communicate with people outside the organization, represent the organization to patients, clients and the public;

-Deal calmly and effectively in high stress situations;

-Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintain them over time;

-Work within a team as well as independently;

-Speak, read, and write effectively as appropriate for the needs of the audience while demonstrating the proper use of grammar.
