This posting will be used to fill Behavioral Health Specialist III vacancies throughout multiple regions of Riverside County (including Blythe). The Riverside University Health Systems - Behavioral Health department is currently recruiting for multiple Behavioral Health Specialist III positions throughout Riverside County. As positions become available, the recruiter will review applications and refer applicants on an individual basis should they meet the department's requirements.
The work schedule for these positions may vary depending on the departments needs.
A valid CADL is required.
The Behavioral Health Specialist III will be expected to use motivational enhanced techniques when performing multidimensional Substance Use screenings with clients.
The incumbents for these positions will make referrals and work with contracted providers so that clients can receive the appropriate level of care.
The Behavioral Health Specialist III should have experience working within a multi-dimension team and be able to assist various professionals in the field. They will be expected to work with the hospitals, outside agencies, school, criminal justice and mental health providers.
The Behavioral Health Specialist III should be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to multitask. Strong oral and written skills are required.
Candidates are required to be registered or certified at date of application as an Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Counselor and to have a valid Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) certification or registration in accordance with the certification requirements as pursuant to Sections 11755, 11864, 11876 (a), and 11834.50 of the California Health and Safety Code and Sections 9846, 10125 and 10564 of the California Code of Regulations through either the California Consortium of Addictions Programs and Professionals (CCAPP) or the
California Association of DUI Treatment Programs or Addiction Counselor Certification Board of California (ACCBC).
The certification list generated from this recruitment will be used to fill multiple mission-critical Behavioral Health Specialist III vacancies that may occur in the coming weeks throughout Riverside County.
Meet the Team!
Our Behavioral Health department serves persons with mental health and/or alcohol and substance use conditions, and individuals experiencing mental health crises. Services are provided on an inpatient, outpatient, and crisis basis. Clients include children experiencing serious emotional disorders, adults with severe mental illness, people experiencing psychiatric episodes and individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use conditions.
Additionally, our department is committed to serving under-served, or inappropriately served populations: culturally or historically marginalized populations, low-income populations, persons experiencing homelessness, disabled populations, and Medi-Cal recipients.
The focus of our department is to promote behavioral health throughout life to ensure a healthy start for children and to achieve wellness in adulthood and old age.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
OPTION I
Education: Completion of 30 semester or 45-quarter units from an accredited college or university, preferably with course work in psychology, sociology, behavioral science, or a closely related field to the assignment. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on the basis of one year of experience being equal to 30 semester or 45- quarter units of college coursework.)
Experience: One year providing individual or group counseling to individuals in a substance abuse treatment program/facility. This experience must have included responsibility for assessing, evaluating, designing treatment plans, and making referrals, either individually or as part of a team led by a substance abuse or medical professional, for substance abuse clients.
OPTION II
(Applicable only to Behavioral Health Specialist positions assigned to the Mental Health
Substance Abuse Friday Night Live Program, which is focused on substance abuse prevention, community education, and program planning.)
Education: Completion of 30 semester or 45 quarter units from an accredited college or university, preferably with course work in education or a behavioral science related field.
(Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on the basis of one year of experience being equal to 30 semester or 45-quarter units of college coursework.)
Experience: One year providing direct evidence-based prevention services in a recognized substance abuse prevention program.
Other Requirements
License/Certificate: Possession of a valid California Driver's License may be required.
Incumbents are required to be registered on the date of hire with an Alcohol and Other Drug certification in accordance with Health and Safety Code Section 11833(b)(1).
