Overview: The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for the complete care and well-being of the clients while they are receiving services at the facility. A Behavioral Health Technician will maintain open lines of communication with staff, physicians, clients, and families.

Schedule:

  • NOC: 11:30pm - 8:00am

Compensation: $20-23; Based on Experience

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists in admission of new residents, which includes orienting resident to unit and program, checking resident for contraband and caring for resident’s valuables and belongings.
  • Assists clients in the recovery process.
  • Provides resident supervision in coordination with the clinical staff.
  • Establishes and maintains therapeutic relationship with residents within the guidelines of the clinical programs.
  • Prepare nutritious meals for clients during the shift.
  • Transports residents off the property when necessary, including driving to A.A./N.A. meetings, doctor appointments, or other required destinations.
  • Observe and document client self-administration of medications. Prepares controlled medication handoff. Inventories and notifies clinical staff of low inventory medications.
  • Provide case management services, including facilitating groups, completing case management notes, assessment of general needs, and follow-ups to ensure that their case management needs are being met by program.
  • Performs all necessary documentation regarding clients (i.e.: rounds, vitals or COWS/CIWA, group sessions)
  • Performs tasks related to general center maintenance, such as bed making, room check, care of resident’s belongings, general center cleanliness, and minor property maintenance.
  • Is aware of physical and safety factors on the unit, performs security rounds and reports unsafe conditions to a supervisor.
  • Assists residents through the discharge process.
  • Responsible for all other duties assigned by a supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in mental health counseling or other related field(s_) Preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Has the ability to listen actively when spoken to and effectively communicate their thoughts to others
  • KIPU experience preferred
  • Valid California driver license and clean driving record
  • Possess or obtain a valid food handler’s card
  • Must agree to abstain from all illegal drug and alcohol usage during the time of employment.
  • RAD-T, SUDRC, or CATC from CCAPP, CAADE, or CADTP preferred OR willing to get registered with a DHCS approved SUD counselor organization within 14 days (Obtained during onboarding or before).
  • Is sensitive to religious, ethnic and cultural differences in others and shows respect and empathy.
  • Is able to work alone, but also as a team with fellow staff in the business setting and actively seek out advice and/or guidance in order to solve problems
  • The Candidate will have good time management skills and actively seek to accomplish tasks and be able to use a variety of methods and ideas to solve problems; whilst also being open to suggestions from others to find solutions

Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods. Must be able to lift 25-50 pounds. May be required to ascend/descend stairs.

Pre-Employment Requirements: Hiring is contingent upon completion of a Background Check, TB test, and clearance on a drug screen and pre-employment physical. Current First Aid and CPR certification or willing to obtain upon hire.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
