Sublime Health Corp, a Behavioral Health Management Company is looking to fill the position Behavioral Health Technician for a Licensed and Certified Detox/Residential and Outpatient Program for adults in Orange County, Ca. The program works effectively by having a strong dedicated team that collaborates together to provide the highest quality of care for the clients.

The BHT (Behavioral Health Technician) is responsible for managing client care on and off property, under the direction of the Program Manager. The BHT must act as a leader, and a role model for the clients, while demonstrating integrity, professionalism, proper boundaries, and ethics. The BHT general summary of responsibilities are:
  • observes day to day activities of the clients that includes:Ensuring clients are on time and prepared for scheduled individual and group therapy
  • monitor the client's compliance on and off site.
  • The BHT will ensure client care is provided in accordance with the philosophy of the organization.
  • Obtainment of urine specimens and breathalyzer tests
  • Physical environment safety and searches
  • Completion of all shift duties and responsibilities

Position Duties

  • Engages regularly with patients and considers all encounters as therapeutic interactions
  • Assists the clinical team and other treatment team members in decision-making to ensure complete and appropriate information is shared.
  • Identifies and reports any pertinent behavioral, medical, and/or psychosocial data to the Clinical Team.
  • Provides continuous therapeutic care and observation to patients in their daily routines, including meals, evidence based social and education groups, and activities to assist in achievement of established treatment plan outcomes for successful recovery.
  • Follows behavior management protocols in a safe, and therapeutic manner.
  • Responds to crisis situations appropriately, effectively, and calmly to ensure ongoing safety of patients and others.
  • Serves as positive role model by establishing maintaining positive, therapeutic relationships and appropriate boundaries with patients.
  • Creates and maintains a safe and therapeutic environment by conducting regular observation rounds with documentation.
  • Completes vital sign monitoring per policy.
  • Crisis intervention-recognizing emotional stress and utilizing resources to resolve problems.
  • Client education- provides current alcohol/drug information and available resources to clients, groups and families

Group facilitation

  • Plans, organizes, and leads evidence based groups in alignment with ASAM guidelines related to substance abuse, life skills, coping skills, self-esteem, relaxation, and creative expression..
  • Plans activities that are appropriate for the participants and promotes participation by each participant.
  • Demonstrates effective group management by dealing with problem behaviors promptly and recognizing and rewarding positive participation and behaviors.
  • Assists in the transport of patients to off-unit activities maintaining safety, order, and direction.
  • Demonstrates effective leadership skills by adjusting the pace of the group in response to the participants needs.

Documentation

  • Documents all encounters in progress notes and all other required client documents pertaining to intake and patient progress, functioning, and interventions in the appropriate charting format in individual and group sessions
  • Documents unusual occurrences, accidents and incidents in the appropriate reporting format.
  • Assures proper client consents and that other treatment documents are completed.
  • Completes assigned shift duties and shift notes during scheduled shift.
  • Completes observation log notes during indicated and assigned times.
  • Completes vitals log and scales during assigned times.
  • Documents during supervision of family/support contact encounters.


Teamwork

  • Actively participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team to develop and employ a total patient care program by consistently attending and contributing to multi-disciplinary staffing and team meetings.
  • Influences coworkers in a positive direction.
  • Participates in cooperative efforts by contributing to discussions, listening to others' ideas, and supporting group consensus.
  • Accepts any challenges within scope and works with team as a shared responsibility.

Supervision/staff development

  • Receives guidance, mentoring, and direction as appropriate for ongoing staff development.
  • Receives close clinical supervision from behavioral health providers qualified to ensure ongoing knowledge, skills, and competency.
  • Maintains and adheres to all Federal, State, and County regulations regarding client confidentiality and staff code of ethics.
  • Perform tasks the supervisor assigns including, but limited to; schedule, case load, and deadlines.
  • Continuous training in areas where needed, attendance at seminars, continue earning CEUs

 


Requirements

  • If providing group facilitation must have counseling certificates: RADT CAS CATC CADC or any other license or credentials relating to the chemical dependency field.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification on file.
  • Registration or certification must remain in compliance and up-to-date.
  • Able to maintain a professional manner with staff, clients, and visitors.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced setting, under pressure, and maintain open, and proper communication.
  • Knowledge and experience working in the treatment setting with chemical dependency/mental health.
  • Valid California driver ’ s license.
  • Current TB skin test on file.
  • Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
  • Good physical and mental health.

  • Knowledge in/of the Twelve-Step Recovery Program.
