Compensation Range: $60-85k

Compensation will be dependent upon geographic region, education, and experience


Job Description


The Business Office Supervisor is responsible for oversight, management and development of department staff, duties, and policy; along with reporting duties and assisting with managing accounts receivables.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop, compile and maintain detailed and updated reports
  • Effectively communicate to any party
  • Initial and ongoing training of department staff
  • Maintain department protocol and policies
  • Complete tasks/duties assigned by Business Office / RCM Leadership
  • Read and understand authorizations for treatment rendered
  • Read and understand explanation of benefits (EOB’s)
  • Read and understand single case agreement (SCA) and letters of agreement (LOA’s)
  • Read and understand Verification of Benefits (VOB), including calculating patient responsibility
  • Able to help with calls from patients and their families regarding policy, patient responsibility and direction.
  • Keep detailed notes for all communications with other departments, managers, and outside agencies such as insurances, etc.
  • Note and offer solutions of trends in insurance practices.
  • Processing requests for further documentation from payers
  • Meet with Business Office Manager, semi-monthly, to discuss status of aging accounts
  • Review the aging report with updated and relevant status information in conjunction with the team members
  • Identify accounts for potential write off or bad debt
  • Assist in processing requests from team for refunds, adjustments and transfers.
  • Assist in identifying topics of discussion for department meetings.
  • Manage Merchant Service accounts as needed
  • Keep up to date with payer issues, concerns, protocol and changes
  • Assist team members with account audits as needed
  • Resolve any conflicts that arise in a professional manner, including handing over the escalated conflict to the Manager for resolution
  • Effectively manage schedules, work and needs of department staff
  • Write, review and update department protocol and policy as needed
  • Complete all assigned duties and tasks as assigned by RCM Leadership, in the time requested
  • Follow up with appropriate staff regarding outstanding contract issues
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Minimum Associates Degree or certification in Medical Billing/Health Claims Examining, or
  • Minimum 2 to 4 years experience in Medical Billing, Health Claims Examining and Collections
  • Minimum 2 years direct supervision of Business Office staff
  • Understanding of insurance terminology and inner workings of insurance companies
  • Calculate patient financial responsibility based on benefit review (i.e. able to understand how deductible, co-insurance, co-pays and maximum out of pockets work in determining patient responsibility)
  • Excellent knowledge of full billing and revenue cycle
  • Knowledge of HIPPA regulations
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent skills with Word and Excel; PowerPoint a plus
  • Analytical and have the ability to collect, assess and interpret data
  • Demonstrate excellent critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrate time management skills
