Responsible for the obtaining blood specimens by venipuncture or capillary methods on patients of all ages according to the phlebotomy policies and procedures. Communicates clearly with patients of all ages in a manner to ease their concerns. Participates in orientation and training of phlebotomy students. Assists physicians in bone marrow aspiration procedure. May be required to perform other duties listed under Laboratory Assistant. Demonstrates cooperation and teamwork with all laboratory staff, shifts and sections to ensure efficient operation of the department.
REQUIREMENTS:
California State Phlebotomy Certification
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Strong English oral and written communication skills
Current Basic Life Support (CPR)certificate
Computer literate with the ability to work with Lab Information Systems
