Duties & Responsibilities

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Perform Patient Assessments: assist with patient triage by phone, email, or text by taking detailed messages as needed for the RN or physician, current health status, progress of acute or chronic condition(s), and/or a brief medical history, etc.
  • Prioritizing patients’ phone calls, emails, and text questions for the RN and or physician
  • Administer injections, treatments, and medications per RN or physician instructions
  • Perform in-office medical testing such as EKGs, PFTs, UAs, nebulizer treatments, audiograms, vision screens, etc., with precision and compassion.
  • Assisting with the collection of patients' urine, stool, or sputum samples for testing and preparing them to send to the lab
  • Assisting with taking patients back from the reception area to an exam room and taking vital signs
  • Assist with stocking exam and IV rooms
  • Assist with maintaining exam and IV rooms clean, tidy, and organized
  • Assist with keeping track of inventory needed
  • Assist with cleaning and sterilization of medical instruments

On Occasion:

  • Coordinating Patient Care: obtaining prior authorizations from patients’ healthcare insurance, returning patients’ calls, emails, or texts with information about their medical questions/results per the RN or physician’s instructions, obtaining patients’ medical records, assisting patients with appointments at specialists' and radiology facilities, etc.
  • Assisting with answering incoming phone calls with professionalism
  • Assisting with scheduling appointments
  • Entering, updating, and verifying patients' demographics and/or healthcare insurance
  • Assisting in handling patient billing and payment issues
  • Processing payments
  • Educating patients on office protocols for the services we offer.

Capable In (a must):

  • Greeting everyone who walks through the front door in a warm, friendly, and professional manner
  • Assisting in collecting monies at the time services are rendered

Overall:

  • Educate patients and their families on health management, disease prevention, and treatment options per RN or physician instructions.
  • Counseling patients on follow-up care per the physician's instructions
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program
  • Current MA certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical back-office medical assisting experience in an outpatient or similar setting is preferred.
  • AHA BLS certification
  • Effective communication—strong written and verbal communication
  • Strong clinical skills and attention to detail
  • Commitment to providing patient-centered care and promoting wellness

Candidates must also be proficient with computers to work with our scheduling software, AdvancedMD. We do not use an EMR for charting.

Benefits available upon a 90-day probationary period include 401(k), profit sharing, and paid time off.

Compensation & Shift

  • Salary is negotiable and dependent upon experience
  • 40 hours a week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8 AM to 6 PM. Wednesday and Friday from 8 AM to 2:30 PM). However, we are open to part-time hours.
