We are looking for an experienced Addiction Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in addiction counseling or a related field and will be passionate about helping individuals struggling with addiction. The Addiction Counselor will provide individual and group counseling sessions, develop treatment plans, and collaborate with other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients. We are looking for someone who is patient, empathetic, and has excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and create a diagnostic impression for clients with substance abuse issues.
• Develop individualized treatment plans for clients.
• Provide counseling and support to clients and their families.
• Conduct Process and Education groups.
• Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
• Educate clients on addiction prevention and relapse prevention strategies.

Education, License & Certification Requirements:

• Certified or Registered with CAADE, CCAPP, or CADTP
• Must pass a DOJ & FBI criminal background check through Live Scan
• Current CPR certification
• TB just prior to hire
• Proof of completion or enrollment in an alcohol and drug studies program.
• Up to Date Resume
• If in recovery: a minimum of 1-year abstinence.
• Able to pass a drug screen (including THC and Alcohol)
• Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to other sites if needed.

Knowledge of the following:

• Substance use treatment modalities
• Assessment, diagnosis and individualized treatment planning
• ASAM Dimensions
• Individual and Group therapy approaches
• Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
• Signs and symptoms of detoxification/withdrawal
• Documentation as it relates to treatment planning process
• Stages of change and ability to individualize treatment plans
• Motivational interviewing techniques
• Clinical interventions to deal with resistance and defensiveness
• Discharge planning that supports client progress and readiness
• Basic computer skills
• Experience with Drug Medi-Cal requirements is a plus

One (1) year of professional experience providing direct services for alcohol and drug counseling post internship, is preferred but not required.

Spanish Speaking is a plus but also not required.

Wage is based on experience (general range $18 - $30 per hour)
