AGENCY: CIFHS is a private, non-profit mental health agency delivering high-quality, comprehensive, integrated primary and behavioral health services to the community through evidence-based practice and collaborative partnerships in the San Gabriel Valley area of Los Angeles County. Sober Solutions Program offers outpatient chemical dependency treatment to individuals, groups, and family counseling based on the philosophy that addiction is a treatable chronic illness and that recovery is possible. CIFHS is looking for a behavioral health counselor to join our team and meet the needs of CD clients and to represents the agency through outreach and networking.

POSITION: Clinical

TITLE: Chemical Dependency (CD) Behavioral Counselor

SCHEDULE: Tuesday-Saturday

Job Definition:

The CD Behavioral Counselor reports to both the CD Program Manager and the Clinical Supervisor for Sober Solutions Program and is responsible for providing and documenting individual, family, crisis and group drug counseling services, as well as assessments and case management services to individuals and their families enrolled in the program. The CD behavioral counselor provides clinical services that are client centered, evidence-based, strength-based, culturally competent, and consistent with CIFHS mission as well as ethical and legal mandates. The CD Behavioral Counselor represents the agency through outreach and networking with other agencies, individuals and institutions.

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Work to support and promote the program’s mission for sobriety and freedom from dependency on chemicals for all clients.

2. Provide individual, family, group, and crisis drug counseling.

3. Provide case management and client advocacy, particularly in the area of social services and chemical dependency, in order to ensure that client’s overall need for services are addressed.

4. Provide intake and assessment of individuals and families referred for services.

5. Develop treatment plan in conjunction with client and review treatment plan with CD Program Manager and Clinical Supervisor.

6. Maintain all documentation and chart records as per agency in a timely manner and according to contract requirements.

7. Participate in quarterly quality control meetings and chart audits as needed.

8. Provide drug testing as per agency and contract protocols.

9. Conduct step study, relapse prevention, and special CD groups as per established curriculum and protocol.

10. Conduct prevention education training and family education groups.

11. Provide vocational assessments and referrals to community services as needed.

12. Provide outreach in community settings on chemical dependency and treatment as requested by agency and/or contract needs.

13. Participate in supervision, case management, in-service training, and chemical dependency training as required.

14. Participate in emergency telephone response/consultation as needed.

15. Collaborate and network with other agencies to create community-based services and counseling programs and refer clients as needed.

16. Support the mission and vision of the agency.

17. Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, ethical standards and regulatory requirements.

18. Stay current with best practices, evidence-based interventions and regulations.

19. Other duties or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in clinical AA or BSN degree and Completion of a Chemical Dependency Treatment Certificate program. Two years’ experience in the prevention and treatment of clients with drug and alcohol dependency.

Compensation

Salary $47,840 to $62,400 based on qualifications and experience
