Counselor II HOAG ADDICTION CENTERS ( SOLMAR)

The compensation scale listed is a general salary range and is not intended to represent the actual annual or hourly compensation rate for this role. An offer will be made to the selected candidate at the conclusion of the interview process based on their relevant experience and the responsibilities of the position. Job Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

We are looking for a highly skilled counselor to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in various aspects of our addiction program. The Counselor II is a member of the Neurosciences Institute and the Chemical Dependency, SolMar Retreat, (Hoag Addiction Treatment Center or HATC). The Counselor has a primary responsibility providing clinical care and case management to the patients, their families and/or significant others throughout the course of treatment, and across multiple levels of care.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

SolMar Retreat:

· Assists with admissions and discharges, assuring all admissions and discharge documents are signed.

· Provides client with an orientation about the program, rules, and a tour of the unit, including: their room as assigned.

· Intervenes as an advocate for clients or patients to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.

· Conducts group counseling sessions and manages group sessions as assigned. Leads/ facilitates lectures for clients.

· Ensure all documentation regarding patient care, group counseling sessions, treatment, and incidents are completed in a timely and in a clear concise manner.

· Lead and coordinate the community meeting for clients (residential level of care). Assists and encourages clients to participate in self-help groups, such as AA/NA. Communicates with HCP/physician, Nurse Practitioner and Supervisor of Addiction Care regarding physician orders, prescriptions and refills as needed.

· Observes self-administration of medications and document in client EMR. Documents daily living activities and vital information.

· Receives and presents change of shift reports as assigned.

Education and Experience

High School Graduate or equivalent required.

Associate degree in Behavioral Science or Allied Mental Health preferred.

Two years minimum experience in addiction/behavioral health required. Three years of experience in addiction/behavioral health environment preferred.

Working knowledge of CARF and/or JCAHO accreditation standards required.

Knowledge of the 12-step, Smart Recovery and other treatment models required.

Knowledge of HIPPA required.

SolMar Retreat: In addition, knowledge and understanding of incidental medical services/MAT per IMS policies and procedures required.

Licenses Required

Certifications Required

CATC II - Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor,

or CATC III or CADC II - Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor,

or CADC III or LAADC

BLS-AHA Basic Life Support required at hire.

The CADC-CAS Certification is accepted and grandfathered for employees hired before 8/1/2021. These employees have one year to acquire the CATC II, or CADC II, or LAADC.

SolMar Retreat: In addition, must have a current negative TB test and health screen report or questionnaire clearance by a physician prior to employment. The tuberculosis test shall be conducted under licensed medical supervision not more than 45 working days prior to employment and renewed annually from the date of the last TB test. Required
