COUNSELOR LEAD - CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY - Drug and Alcohol Counseling

Job Description

The Counselor Lead are members of the Neurosciences Institute and HATC. They work in close collaboration with the Medical Director, Operation Manager,
Nursing Manager, and all members of the HATC multidisciplinary team. Counselors assist in the clinical care and case management of the patients, their families
and/or significant others throughout the course of treatment, and across multiple levels of care. They support the treatment team in the assessment, treatment
planning, referral recommendations, discharge planning, education and direct therapeutic intervention for patients and their families throughout treatment.
Chemical Dependency: In addition to the above, the Lead assists with generating and evaluating data with Management to improve the specialty program areas, or
overall programs. Assists with special projects. Works with Management to oversee daily assignments in Case Management and Group Facilitation optimal unit
coverage. Works with Management to provide daily oversight of Counselor I and Counselor II staff by providing daily assignments in case management and group
facilitation. Report updates to Manager. Act as a resource to Counselor I and Counselor II roles Performs other duties as assigned.
SolMar Retreat: In addition to the above, the Lead assists the Supervisor of Addiction Client care with the training of new and current staff on discharge and
admission protocols. Monitors shift assignments, patient flow, trains new staff on policies and procedures, monitors groups and documentation. Communicates
with family, referral sources, outside professionals in patient treatment and outcomes. Conducts group counseling sessions. Documents daily living activities and
vital information. Records patient behaviors and informs clinical team of any changes. Conducts Screenings/ intake assessments as needed and within the
incidental medical services (IMS) guidelines. Works with the intake and UR department to collect deposits and informs the patient and appropriate participants
involved in patient’s care the financial requirements for treatment such as Patient Financial Responsibility Forms.
Certifications Required
CATC II - Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor II
or CATC III - Certified Alcohol and Addiction Counselor III
or CADC II - Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor II
or CADC III - Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor III
or LAADC Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor
One of the above Certifications is required within 30 days of hire.
BLS – AHA Basic Life Support required at hire.
Must have a current negative TB test and health screen report or questionnaire clearance by a physician prior to employment. The tuberculosis test
shall be conducted under licensed medical supervision not more than 45 working days prior to employment renewed annually from the date of the
last TB test. Required.

Job Type: Full-time

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Newport Beach, CA: Reliably commute or willing to relocate with an employer-provided relocation package (Required)

License/Certification:

  • CADC II or CATC II (Required)
