SUMMARY OF MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
Under general supervision, this position will provide services to the agency’s clients. Such services may include intake and assessments, group, individual and family counseling, crisis intervention and referrals. Participates in the day-to-day functioning of the counseling program. Relates directly with clients, social workers, probation officers and client families. Ensures client’s attend medical appointments, court appearances, receive medications (residential facilities only) and other necessary functions.
DUTIES:
1. Completes psychosocial evaluation of assigned clients in a timely manner, demonstrating good interviewing and assessment skills.
2. Completes all documentation including admission documents, progress notes, treatment plans, discharge documents, urine testing results, family contacts, probation, and social worker contacts in a neat and timely fashion.
3. Facilitates individual and group therapy sessions with assigned groups of clients.
4. Conducts educational and didactic group sessions.
5. Participates as an active member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team.
6. Collaborates with appropriate clinical staff, family members, probation officers, and social workers in planning for discharge and post discharge activities. Counselors should ensure discharge planning for employment and housing is done with each client.
7. Maintains a visible presence on the floor with clients. Monitors rooms and grounds on a routine basis.
8. Administers logical rewards and sanctions for clients following approved guidelines or with approval of Residential or Outpatient Program Director.
9. Participates in case conferences, utilization review, and staff meetings.
10. Keeps abreast of the treatment progress and behavior of each assigned client.
11. Notifies the Coordinator of Residential or Outpatient before the termination of a client.
12. Write monthly progress reports regarding assigned clients for employers and other sources as required.
13. Supports and adheres to the rules and regulations of the Board of Directors.
14. Participates as an active member or assigned committees.
15. Participates in scheduled service and other appropriate training activities.
16. Performs other duties as related to direct service activity.
17. Maintains a pleasant and efficient manner with co-workers, clients, and the public.
18. Responds constructively to supervision and feedback in a professional manner.
19. Participates in staff meetings as an active member, as a team player, and in a respectful fashion.
20. Able to resume full responsibility for supervising the treatment unit, maintaining a schedule of activities, documentation of activities and transportation.
21. Must maintain progress toward goals identified in annual performance evaluation by supervisor. Goals are constructed in order to maintain continuing education and skills acquisition.
22. Must have detailed knowledge of the treatment unit including housekeeping, maintenance, and health and safety knowledge and risk management.
23. Maintain adequate attendance to fulfill all job requirements without causing hardship to supervisors or company.
24. Support and adhere to the rules and regulations of the Board of Directors.
25. Perform special administrative tasks as determined by the supervisor.
POSITION EXPECTATIONS:
1. Staff is expected to consistently keep a 65% productivity rating (65% of your time is spent providing face to face direct client services) (outpatient facilities only).
2. Staff is expected to complete all required Relias Trainings within the allotted time frame assigned by the supervisor.
3. Staff is expected to complete treatment plans within a 10 day time frame including all required signatures.
4. Staff is expected to obtain all required signatures for Client Health Questionnaire within a 7 day time frame.
5. Staff is expected to complete all notes within 24 hours of service completion.
6. Staff is expected to discharge clients that are inactive for: outpatient = 30 days, residential = 1 day.
7. Staff is expected to complete all post outcome survey calls within 14 days of due date
8. Staff is expected to receive favorable scores on the direct client services section of customer surveys Likert scale.
9. Staff is expected to follow medical charting and protocol, daily notes, LPHA signature for health questionnaire and treatment plans.
10. Staff will be expected to QA their individual charts to ensure all charting protocol and guidelines have been met including signatures, dates, LPHA signature, treatment plan signatures and daily clinical services when applicable.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or GED;
2. Must be registered by a state approved credentialing organization with a RADT or equivalent.

Knowledge and skills of:
● Behavioral health and the principles and techniques of individual, family, and group therapy;
● Relevant medical terminology;
● Chemical dependence and co-dependence and the principles and techniques of group therapy;
● Models of addictions or other models related to behavioral health;
● National, state, local, public, and private resources in health and human services or behavioral health services that pertain to addictions;
● Principles of planning, development, and implementation as they pertain to drug/alcohol addiction counseling or other related programs;
● Computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite, database management, query reporting;
● Welfare and Institutions Code;
● Emergency procedures.
