Development Associate

MUSE/IQUE is searching for an experienced Development Associate to support and assist the organization in all development and fundraising areas. The Development Associate is responsible for all administrative aspects of development activities. The Development Associate plays a key role by providing administrative support to the fund development department and participating in all fundraising activities including donor relations, direct mail appeals, special events and show performances. We are seeking an individual with excellent attention to detail, verbal, and written communication, and follow through.

MUSE/IQUE presents live concerts across the Los Angeles area, in tandem with education programming at schools and community centers. Programming covers an expansive range of music, from Vivaldi to Quincy Jones to Lady Gaga, and features incredible solo artists, such as Savion Glover, Charles Yang, and Brandon Victor Dixon.

The Development Associate is a new full-time position, reporting directly to the Executive Vice President, as well as working closely with the Development Manager. This is a full-time, benefit-eligible, non-exempt position. MUSE/IQUE staff are currently working a hybrid schedule with three and a half in-person days a week at the Pasadena offices. The schedule may include nights and weekends, based on rehearsal and performance calendars. The hourly range is $24 to $27 per hour, plus benefits including paid time off, sick time, 10 paid holidays, and health insurance (medical, dental, and vision). Mileage reimbursement for business is provided.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support EVP by maintaining and updating the development department and executive calendar, notifying of upcoming appointments with all relevant information and materials.
  • Coordinate all aspects of donor and board relations, including correspondence, benefit fulfillment, event attendance committee and board meeting schedules and materials, etc.
  • Provide organizational support for major gift cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation.
  • Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters.
  • Create weekly fundraising reports
  • Provide additional executive assistance to the CEO and Artistic Director as it relates to development activities.
  • Maintain donor records and strengthen relationships through comprehensive work with donor database.
  • Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate, foundation and individual donors.
    • In cooperation with Development Manager, coordinate e-mail production and year-end appeal letter mailings.
    • Other duties as assigned by Executive Vice President.

    Requirements:

    • A minimum of 2 years experience in an administrative position, preferably in a not-for-profit development department.
    • Impeccable time management and organization
    • Ability to multi-task and determine priorities among competing demands.
    • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written professional communications, including phone calls.
    • Reliable transportation, including adequate vehicle and ability to drive items and other people to various destinations in the Los Angeles area, specifically the Pasadena area.
    • Proficiency with database management experience, Altru, Blackbaud preferred.
    • Appreciation for and a basic knowledge of music and orchestras.
    • Ability to develop and maintain effective professional relationships and communication with executives, artists, and colleagues, and interfacing with patrons and donors at events.
