General Purpose

Attend to patients on the phone and in person. Coordinate and organize appointments and documentation to facilitate the smooth running of the healthcare environment and support delivery of quality patient care. Occasional medical assistant back up responsibilities.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Greet patients in an upbeat, pleasant and professional manner
  • Register patients according to established office policies and procedures
  • Assist patients to complete all necessary forms and documentation including medical insurance verification
  • Ensure patient information is accurate, including billing information
  • Obtain all appropriate authorizations and referrals from Medical Groups and IPA's
  • Inform patients of medical office procedures and policy
  • Maintain and manage patient records
  • Move patients through appointments as scheduled
  • Answer incoming calls and deal with inquiries
  • Manage the patient appointment schedule for a minimum of 3 physicians
  • Collect co-pays and payments
  • Obtain external medical reports as required by medical professionals
  • Respond and comply to requests for information
  • Complete other clerical duties as assigned
  • Assist in the maintenance of forms and office supplies
  • Ensure reception area and lobby is well maintained, neat and clean
  • Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Occasional back office responsibilities
  • Comply with requests from physicians and management within the practice

Education and Experience-MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma
  • Medical Assistant Certificated
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures and diagnosis
  • Knowledge of computer and relevant software applications, including EMR packages
  • Knowledge of general administrative and clerical procedures
  • Working knowledge of healthcare insurance, private, managed care and Medicare, required.
  • MUST be bilingual in Spanish.
  • MUST have a MINIMUM of 5 years experience in FRONT OFFICE.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
