Full Job Description
Pain Management Medical Office is looking for a personable and experienced medical assistant to primarily support front-office activities in providing great customer service to our patients.
Position Summary
Responsible for assisting providers with patient care including rooming patients, clerical, and organizational tasks. Responsible for answering calls for appointment scheduling, visit related requests, checking balances, processing payments, and chart management. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinic services. Conveys a positive image of the clinic. Able to think and act independently on assigned tasks. Familiarity with E-Clinical Works or other EMR’s is a plus. Able to multi-task.
Essential Functions
Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned, which may include:
Checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking, preparing for exam, collection of patient's vitals, etc., preparing charts; relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls and providing pertinent information. Relaying patient requests to responsible parties.
Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned, which may include:
Sending/receiving patient medical records and faxes; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; completing forms/requisitions as needed; verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics; processing in-office co-pays and patient balances, managing the charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately. Confirming benefits and eligibility when scheduling new patients. Maintaining records in the EMR system.
Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned, which may include:
Respecting/promoting patient rights; responding appropriately to emergency codes; sharing problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisor quickly. Serves and protects the physician or health care provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies, and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and HIPAA. Treats patients and their family members with respect and care.
