Job Overview

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Health Care Coach, Interpreter, and Medical Assistant, where you will play a vital role in bridging communication gaps and supporting patient care. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to utilize your multilingual skills (primarily in Mandarin Chinese), medical knowledge, and cultural competence in Chinese to enhance patient experiences. You will serve as a trusted liaison between healthcare providers and diverse patient populations, ensuring clear communication, adherence to clinical ethical standards, and confidentiality. Duties

  • Provide interpretation and translation services across multiple languages, mainly in Chinese and English, including American Sign Language (ASL), ensuring accurate communication of medical information in compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies
  • Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, documentation review, and medical records management to ensure precise and thorough recordkeeping
  • Support clinical staff by preparing exam rooms, assisting during medical procedures, and managing medical supplies in accordance with clinical cultural competency standards
  • Educate patients on health conditions, treatment plans, and social services options using cross-cultural communication techniques
  • Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations while achieving compliance through diligent documentation review and secure handling of sensitive information
  • Collaborate with social workers and child protective services when necessary to coordinate patient support services
  • Facilitate effective communication between patients with limited English proficiency or hearing impairments using interpretation skills and translating medical terminology accurately

Skills

  • Multilingual proficiency with strong translation skills in Chinese and in relevant languages; fluency in American Sign Language is highly desirable
  • Deep understanding of medical terminology and the ability to translate complex medical language into accessible terms for patients
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to navigate cross-cultural interactions confidently and professionally
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, clinical ethical guidelines, and confidentiality policies to ensure compliance at all times
  • Experience working within hospital or clinical settings, including familiarity with medical records management and documentation review processes
  • Strong organizational skills to support accurate data entry, recordkeeping, and administrative tasks
  • Background in social work or experience collaborating with child protective services enhances the ability to address diverse patient needs effectively

Pay: $20.00 - $29.91 per hour

  • Health coaching: 2 years (Required)
