PIH Health is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Health Information Tech 1 to join our team at the PIH Health Downey Hospital. This full-time, regular/at-will position plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and quality of health information management (HIM) by processing health information under the guidance of the HIM Director or designated supervisor. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating physician medical record completion and conducting quantitative analysis of all medical record patient types in accordance with standards set by Title 22, CIHQ, Conditions of Participation, and the Medical Staff Rules and Regulations. As a part of a nonprofit, regional healthcare network serving approximately 3 million residents, the Health Information Tech 1 will contribute to an organization recognized for excellence in patient care and experience. The role requires no travel and is based at the PIH Health Downey Hospital. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to handle the pressure of continual deadlines and variable work requirements with accuracy and professionalism. They will also be expected to be courteous, tactful, and cooperative throughout the workday and proficient in using standard office equipment, including computers, photocopy machines, facsimile (FAX), and scanners. Required Skills

  • Knowledge of medical record documents
  • Experience with physician chart completion and chart deficiency analysis
  • Basic keyboarding skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with computers
  • Typing speed of 35 wpm
  • Ability to categorize forms/documents within the medical record
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated
  • Ability to withstand the pressure of continual deadlines and receipt of work with variable requirements
  • Ability to concentrate and maintain accuracy despite frequent interruptions
  • Ability to be courteous, tactful, and cooperative throughout the workday
  • Proficiency in using standard office equipment including computers, photocopy, facsimile (FAX), and scanners
