The Hospital Surgical Patient Documentation and Surgical Billing Auditor provides support to the Corporate Compliance Program through Medical/Surgical, Ambulatory Surgery, Observation, and Rehabilitation documentation and billing audits at minimum. The auditor will interact with Hospital Leaders regarding trends identified, and with hospital staff regarding deficiencies or needed error corrections so billing is accurate. Position will perform other Corporate Compliance Department related audits and tasks as assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in a healthcare organization with auditing documentation and charging for surgical supplies and services, ambulatory surgery billing, med/surg and ICU billing, observation billing. Knowledge of rehabilitation billing preferred.
Must be proficient in the use of word and excel (minimum intermediate level preferred and graphs and charts).
Must have an understanding of Medicare requirements for surgical supply billing
Must know medical and surgical supply/implant terminology
Familiar with orthopedic, spinal, neurosurgery, and robotic procedures preferred
Must know Revenue Code, CPT, and HCPCS hospital based coding for charges
Understanding of contracts and vendors/GPO preferred
Associate Degree and/or specialty certification (i.e. Revenue Cycle Specialist, Registered Health Information Technologist, Therapy Assistant, or similar) preferred.
The hourly range for this position is $28.00-$38.00
