Job Overview

North County Serenity House, A Program of HealthRIGHT 360 was founded in 1966 to provide substance use disorder services in the community. North County Serenity House provides a gender-responsive and trauma-informed environment, using evidence-based and best practices that recognize and account for the role that trauma frequently plays in substance use and criminal histories of women. For clients with co-occurring mental illness, we provide integrated substance use and mental health services which treat both conditions as primary. Our residential facility serves up to 120 women (with capacity for up to 20 children under 5 years of age) seeking recovery from substance use disorders.

We are looking for an Intake Coordinator II who is an experienced Clinical Social Worker (CSW), Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), Professional Clinical Counselor (PCC), or Psychologist and is registered or licensed through California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) or California Board of Psychology (CBP).
The Intake Coordinator II conducts levels of care assessments, plans treatment, determines medical necessity and evaluations to identify behaviors and problems related to a client’s addiction and potential co-occurring disorders, and make referrals to continuum of treatment and supportive services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assesses clients for treatment needs such as mental health, social, legal, and medical services.
  • Ensures all required paperwork is completed accurately and within required timeframes and utilizes appropriate electronic systems to enter bed nights, and keep accurate records of intake dates, discharge dates and child count onsite to ensure program is in compliance with business license.
  • Utilizes strong assessment skills while administering the ASAM assessment as well as the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems 10th Version (ICD-10-CM) and Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 5th Edition (DSM-5) diagnoses.
  • Assists with signing off on other treatment team assessments and treatment plans.
  • Assesses and refers clients to appropriate levels of care. Maintains utilization within each funding source.
  • Monitors program utilization to assure maximization of contract capacity,reports on utilization weekly and compares contract utilization reports with electronic health records to assure accuracy.
  • Communicates and coordinates with outside referral agencies via phone, in person, and through email to make placements based on the needs of the participants and treatment program availability. This includes, but is not limited to the county office, probation, parole, and child welfare services.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality guidelines regarding all clients, conversations, and referrals.
  • Follows legal guidelines in mandatory reporting Maintains accurate documentation in various electronic systems in compliance with HealthRIGHT 360, Drug Medi-Cal, HIPAA, 42CFR, and funder standards.
  • Properly documents all services provided and completes admission and discharge paperwork, as appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited program with active registration or licensure through California Board of Behavioral Sciences (ACSW, LCSW, AMFT, LMFT, APCC, or LPCC) or California Board of Psychology.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a substance abuse treatment or community mental health setting.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
  • Understanding and application of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed therapy models, harm reduction, cognitive–behavioral therapy, brief psychotherapy, and psycho-educational approaches.
  • Familiarity with working with psychotic and other severe mental health presentations.
  • First Aid and CPR certified within 30 days of employment.
  • Possess a valid California driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
  • Ability to understand, and interpret information, and can manage a consistent workflow.
  • Ability to enter data into various electronic systems while maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the data.
  • Ability to pass health screening and TB test requirements.
  • Bilingual preferred.
Background Clearance Required:
  • Must not be on active parole or probation.
  • Satisfactory background check and fingerprint live scan clearance.
