Lab Assistant collects blood specimens from patients of all ages of diverse population from newborn to geriatric population using appropriate vein-puncture and skin puncture techniques. Accessions requests and processes specimens for testing or referral to outside reference laboratories. Provides clerical, billing, reception, and other support functions for all laboratory sections. Performs other duties as assigned. Reports to Laboratory Manager/Director.

Possesses knowledge and skill necessary to safely and professionally collect venous and capillary blood specimens from patients of all age groups. Provides accurate timely processing of clinical specimens, preferably in multiple laboratory disciplines. Good judgment and problem solving abilities. Good communication skills in English, a knowledge of basic medical terminology and ability to follow technical direction.

Required:

  • One year previous laboratory experience in a hospital environment preferred
  • California Phlebotomy License
  • American Heart Association BLS/CPR

Per Diem Pay Rate $22.00
