Urgent Care Pros is looking for Medical Assistants with their limited X-Ray license or RT. We are looking for employees who want to part of a positive and upbeat work environment, and are able to provide excellent patient care. This location is a brand new facility with onsite Xray, and basic Urgent Care labs. Urgent care experience is preferred, but not necessarily required. We are open M-F from 8am to 7pm and Sat/Sun 8am-5pm. Depending on where you live, you will work in Cypress, Lakewood, or Fullerton.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Basic Urgent Care Responsibilities):

  • Patient Care.

a. Prepare examination and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.
b. Take patient histories and vital signs.
c. Prepare patient for examination and treatment.
d. Apply splints and dressings, prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments including sterilization.

e. Assist physicians in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals.

f. Perform phlebotomy and distributive laboratory paperwork.
g. Dispense medication as directed.
h. Instruct and educate patients about discharge instructions if applicable.
i. Perform selected nursing and administrative duties as directed.
j. Handle telephone calls from clients, patients, prospective patients, physicians, pharmacies, as well as other staff.

k. Provide solutions to patient concerns within the scope of position.

  • Clerical (If needed)

a. Provide accurate and timely documentation to staff, insurance carriers and companies.
b. Correspondence by phone, in person, or in writing with regard to patient care, i.e. insurance carriers, physicians, non-clinic physicians.

c. Maintain patient records for clinical use, medical records use, billing use, physicians’ review, etc. d. Log and mark charges on superbills per billing office protocols.

e. Document patient files, records, forms, and other info.
f. Assist with scheduling of test and treatments.
g. Screen phone calls for referral to physician.
h. Maintain clinical and office supplies and equipment.
i. Complete opening and closing procedures.
j. Be sure work area appears neat, well stocked, and organized.

  • XRAY:

a. Prepares patients for radiologic procedures. Takes X-Rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.

b. Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials.

c. Ensures equipment is in working order. Reports equipment malfunctions to Department Head.

d. Logs radiologic procedures completed. Processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directed.

e. Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies.

  • Performs basic nursing duties which include: answering phones, greeting patients upon arrival, rooming patients, taking vitals and patient histories, obtaining chief complaint, completing point of care lab testing, scheduling ancillary appointments, and discharging patients. If needed: checking patients into the system, collecting co-pays, pre-authorizing credit cards, collecting payments,
  • Responsible for packaging, signing of medical records release forms & logging X-Rays.
  • Ensures all radiographs achieve a radiographic interpretation by clarifying discrepancies.
  • Other Duties

a. Maintain disposable and non-disposable supplies, i.e. wound care supplies, laundry, etc. b. Provide general information of department policies and procedures.
c. Attend required meetings, re-certifications, and participate in committees as requested. d. Help produce and maintain patient education instruction hand-outs.
e. Maintain clean, professional working/treatment area. Clean spills, or accidents on floor.

  • Accept and assume responsibility for special projects as they arise.
  • All other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Medical Assistant Certification/License in accordance to state requirements and applicable regulations of jurisdiction REQUIRED
  • Certified Limited X-ray Technician with chest, extremities and torso-skeletal to include digital radiography REQUIRED

To be considered for this position, you MUST be a Certified Limited X-Ray Technician or AART.
