Southern California Medical Center is looking for a front and back office Medical Assistant to join our clinic.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Welcome patients by greeting them in person or on the telephone.
  • Verify patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, confirming purpose of visit.
  • Prepare patients by directing and/or accompanying them to the exam room.
  • Administer the billing process for patients.
  • Manage inventory of medical supplies and equip exam rooms with appropriate supplies
  • Prepare equipment and examination rooms, and clean instruments
  • Perform preliminary physical tests; take blood pressure, weight and temperature; report patient history summary
  • Communicating with patients and informing them about normal or abnormal laboratory test results as instructed by Clinic Manager
  • Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential
  • Maintain safe, secure and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
  • Complete records by recording patient examination, treatment and test results
  • Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient care information confidential
  • Handle billing process
  • Serve and protect the physician or healthcare provider practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards
  • Enhance health care practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Manage inventory of medical supplies and equip exam rooms with appropriate supplies
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, Skills :

  • High School diploma required; Associate degree or Medical Assistant Training certificate preferred.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in healthcare setting; preferred.
  • Experience with insurance programs; required.
  • Bilingual: English and Khmer or English and Spanish preferred
  • NextGen experience is a plus
  • Great customer service skills
  • Professional manner and detailed oriented
  • Able to handle pressure and remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Computer skills and knowledge, including word processing, medical database operations and spreadsheets.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • No nights
  • Rotating weekends
  • Weekends as needed
