Position summary for Medical Assistant - Front and Back Office will perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly. The duties of Medical Assistant - Front and Back Office vary from setting to setting, depending on the size, location, and type. In addition to administrative duties, Medical Assistant - Front and Back Office will perform clinical duties in accordance with state law.

Location: Anaheim, Orange, Santa Ana, Huntington Beach, Foothill Ranch

Position Responsibilities Common responsibilities of Medical Assistants include (but are not limited to):

Administrative:

  • Front desk reception, answer phones and schedule appointments
  • Greets patients and assist with signing in
  • Files and maintains medical and financial records
  • Purchases and maintains supplies and equipment
  • Process outside referrals
  • Performs other position related duties as assigned
  • Calls in prescriptions to the pharmacy
  • Uses communication skills with appropriate medical terminology
  • Follows appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct

Assigned Clinical:

  • Measures and records vital signs, patient medical history and chief complaints
  • Educate patients on medications, management of diagnosis, home treatments and special diets
  • Prepares patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests
  • Assists physician with exams, X-ray and physical therapy procedures
  • Phlebotomy, collection of lab specimens, perform basic lab tests
  • Prepares and administers medications and injections with physician authorization
  • Maintains supplies, equipment, stocks and sterilizes instruments
  • Maintains clean facility, rooms and waiting area
  • Performs accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times
  • Performs other position-related duties as assigned
  • Perform first aid procedures

  • Follows company and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment
  • Follows company's protocol
  • Respects cultural and religious practices of patients
  • Upholds HIPAA regulations
  • Reliability and punctuality is a must

Position Requirements:

  • High school graduate - Required
  • Bachelor's degree - Preferred
  • Bi-lingual English and Spanish/Arabic - Preferred
  • Medical Assistant Certificate/CPR Certificate - Required
  • EKG knowledge - Required
  • Two (2) or more years Medical Assistant experience in the corresponding setting - Preferred
  • Federal and State required credentials current and on file
  • Able to read and write consistent with job requirements; cognitive skills as related to the position Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds - Required
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time - Required
  • Must be available to work some weekends
