Full Job Description

Front Office Medical Assistant provides clerical administrative, and or clinical job duties for the clinical facility.

\*REQUIRED - MUST HAVE COVID-19 VACCINATIONS

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Greet clients/patients at reception desk or counter; assist them in completing necessary documents and applications.
  • Obtain medical history and chief complaint.
  • Maintain medical charts and schedule appointments for staff.
  • Perform routine medical data clerical tasks.
  • Verify patient's health insurance coverage.
  • Record information for each patient encounter such as medical procedure and diagnostic tests performed by physician or licensed personnel.
  • Prepare patients for examination.
  • Perform the following routine clinical procedures.
  • Provide feedback, verbally and in writing, to licensed professional staff regarding client needs and community responses to health services and programs.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Reporting Relationships:

The Medical Assistant reports to and receives assignments from the Director of Operations and the Office Administrators of the clinical site assigned.

Specifications:

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Medical Assistant Certificate required

Skills & Abilities Requirements

  • Must be familiar with EHR/EMR system.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience is preferred
  • Spanish bilingual is a preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Body Positions: Sitting and standing for prolonged periods.
  • Body Movements: Arm and hand dexterity.
  • Body Senses: Must have command of close and distant sight, color perception and hearing.
  • Strength: Ability to lift and move up to 25-pounds.

Working Environment:

  • Work in an office, where the climate is controlled
  • Occasional travel between medical groups and/or hospitals when necessary. 0-25 % of the time.
  • OSHA exposure category: I
  • Category I – Position includes tasks that involve exposure to Blood borne Pathogens.
  • Category II – Position includes tasks that do not have exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens, however employment may require unplanned Category I tasks.
  • Category III – Positions includes tasks that do not involve exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens. This position would not be required to perform Category I tasks.

Job Type: Full-time
