JOB DESCRIPTION

A Medical Office Assistant participates in overall patient management including patient reception, appointment scheduling, charting procedures and effective communication both telephonic and in person.

Performs administrative tasks including written communication, documentation and record keeping. Prepares and maintains examination rooms and obtains and records vital sign information such as weight and blood pressure. Prepares patients for physical examination and may assist the primary health care provider with patient care activities (chaperoning when necessary) and minor surgery. Practices aseptic technique (including management of infectious waste) and maintains safe and clean equipment and environment. Follows and maintains the appropriate infectious disease control standards. Performs audio, visual, and EKG testing and sets up and assists in various diagnostic tests and procedures according to Provider specialty (e.g. pap smears). Identifies patient’s needs for education and refers appropriately. Candidate must pay attention to detail and be able to communicate effectively with the health care team and patient.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. AA Degree (or in the process of obtaining) High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

2. Medical Assistant School Certificate (or in the process of obtaining).

3. CPR certification.

4. Basic knowledge of medical terminology.

5. Experience in the area of medical health care, if possible.

6. Must be bilingual (English: written and verbal, Spanish: verbal).

7. Strong oral and written communication skills and patient service skills.

8. Possess excellent interpersonal skills and can work effectively with a diversity of individuals.

9. Ability to interact effectively with the health care team as well as fellow employees.

10. Basic knowledge of Front Office.

11. Valid California Drivers License.

12. Ability to pass drug screen and criminal background check.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
