Medical Assistant/Front Desk Receptionist, Medi-Cal

Position Summary

The front desk receptionist provides non-clinical support to patients, clinical staff, and providers facilitating clerical, administrative tasks. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, triage incoming calls, updating / verifying patient demographics, insurance eligibility verification, and scheduling new/missed appointments. This is a hybrid position as a Medical Assistant, back office experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic administrative, clerical, operational and customer support to providers and patients
  • Ensures correct demographic information prior to visit
  • Name, DOB, address
  • Insurance Eligibility
  • Schedules appointments and follow-ups per provider instructions
  • Collecting necessary forms prior to office visit
  • Living wills / directives
  • Excellent customer service/ patient care
  • Vital patients and document in EMR
  • Collects necessary forms prior to office consult
  • Draws blood
  • Administers injections
  • Prepares and cleans exam / procedure rooms and keeps inventory supplies stocked
  • Maintains a timely flow of patients between rooms
  • Meeting with providers, review daily patient appointments list

Daily Duties

  • Greeting patients
  • Verifying insurance eligibility
  • Straight Medi-Cal
  • IPAs
  • Verifying demographics
  • Name, DOB, address
  • If applicable, verifying necessary documentation within pt’s chart
  • Advance living directive
  • HIPPA Release
  • Medical Records Release
  • Creating superbills prior to office visit
  • Creating telehealth charts
  • Sick visits
  • Prescription refills
  • Scheduling next visit prior to patient leaving
  • Follow up
  • Annual wellness
  • Blood pressure management
  • Child wellness / vaccines
  • Answering / triaging incoming calls
  • Dispensing intake packets
  • Staying healthy assessments
  • Checking tasks / messages for daily action items from providers

Requirements

  • Bilingual in Spanish/English
  • Minimum 2 years experience
  • High school / GED Diploma

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Able to lift to 40 pounds and push up to 100 pounds on wheels
  • Able to bend, stoop, walk, stand as needed

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $26.00 per hour
