Schedule for this position is:

  • Monday - Friday: 5:30am - 2:00 pm

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients
  • Check-in patients
  • Answers telephones timely with correct etiquette and paging procedures
  • Take telephone messages
  • Schedule medical and counseling appointments for patients
  • Make reminder calls for patient appointments
  • Collect and document all payments
  • Generate letters and forms to patients and outside providers
  • Translate when necessary
  • Create, file and maintain all patient records as necessary
  • Measure vital signs and record patients’ medical history
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required and dispose of contaminated supplies
  • Order Medical Supplies and maintain weekly inventory
  • Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing
  • Document all activities in the patient’s record
  • Maintains communication with the Laboratory vendor for test results
  • Maintains a safe, secure and healthy work environment by following procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Conduct daily activities with sensitivity to our patient’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and attending in-house trainings
  • Participate in Quality Improvement activities as required
  • Comply with the organization’s Personnel Code of Conduct
  • Collect and log U/As for drug analysis
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience

  • Excellent customer service and phone etiquette
  • Experience and training in crisis intervention
  • Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Ability to be patient, caring and compassionate
  • Ability to work as a team player
  • Basic knowledge of MS Words and Excel
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Demonstrate awareness and value of cultural competence

Education

  • High school diploma

Physical Requirements

  • Stand or Sit: Constantly sits in an office chair. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time.
  • Walk: Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Use of hands & fingers: Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a copy machine and printers. Repetitive movements of hand and fingers for typing and writing.
  • Talk or Hear: Constantly communicates with patients and staff. Must be able to express oneself and exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • See: Must be able to visually identify, observe and assess.
  • Reaching or Lifting: Seldom reaching for or lifting of items in storage locations, such as copying paper, files, office supplies, etc.
  • Neck Motion: Frequent movement while performing all duties as described above.
