The medical assistant/scribe works to facilitate patient flow and ensure an accurate and complete medical record for each patient. The medical scribe assists the medical provider by accompanying them during the medical history-taking and exam, recording details of both into the medical record. MUST be dependable.

Qualifications

  • Six months of Medical Scribe experience or related clinical training
  • Strong Medical Terminology
  • Strong writing skills (spelling proficiency)
  • Able to type a minimum of 60 WPM

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records

Administrative

  • Maintains a clean and organized work area
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and accepted abbreviations
  • Recognition of physical exam process and ability to record exam details
  • Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications
  • Communication skills and the ability to coordinate and cooperate with multiple members of the health care team
  • Organizational skills with focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow
  • Professional demeanor and recognition of privacy considerations for patients and families
  • Flexibility in scheduling
  • Coping with the sometimes high-pressure environment

Clinical

  • Rooming patients, collecting vitals, clean instruments, turn over exam rooms
  • Record details of chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, past medical history, social history, family medical history, disease risk factors, medications and allergies.
  • Record details of physical exam, including pertinent positives and negatives, noted abnormalities and patient general condition.
  • Submit orders as desired by medical provider and check constantly for results of those orders.

Performance Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate with a high level of medical knowledge to patients, staff, management, Physicians, and others
  • Demonstrates a high level of medical knowledge in regards to patient care, office procedures, patient evaluation, medical terminology, OSHA regulations, etc.
  • Has knowledge of CPT and ICD-10.
  • Development of ideas and professional attitude that will promote responsibilities as an individual health care professional and as a member of the health care team
  • Coordination of team efforts to offer the most qualified support team to the patient
  • Obeys and adheres to all policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
