JOB SUMMARY

The Mental Health Clinician (Per-Child) provides direct clinical services to program clients and their children, including individual therapy, parenting, group facilitation, and other direct clinical service as necessary. The Clinician will maintain an individual caseload, properly document, facilitate multiple psychology and AOD groups, and contribute to treatment teams to provide the highest quality client care.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain a clinical caseload of child and adult clients as assigned by the supervising psychologist.
Support new intake screening assessments, review and complete ASAM Diagnostic Determination Note
Assist counseling staff in dealing with counseling issues and crisis interventions.
Provide symptom management skills and the necessary therapeutic interventions to provide clients with the ability to maintain the least restrictive care and the highest level of functioning.
Maintain timely, accurate and legible documentation using assigned forms and formats for each client in their caseload. Responsible for medical record documentation using assigned forms and formats for each client in their caseload per contract and Medi-Cal requirements.
Integrate clinical concepts with sound theoretical and practical applications of rehabilitative and individual group and milieu counseling principles.
Interact therapeutically with clients.
Initiate appropriate and timely interventions tailored to client diversity variables and presenting symptomatology with consideration for underlying maladaptive personality patterns.
Provide input to other treatment team members to develop and improve program services and delivery and individual client services.
Consult with other treatment providers such as AOD counselor, case manager, social worker, probation officers, etc.
Designate new target goals for clients consistent with overall treatment goals.
Assess and recognize behavior or changes in mood that indicate suicidal or homicidal intent or plan, and immediately reports any concerns to supervising psychologist AND Program Supervisor.
Provide mentorship to psychology interns
Schedule and design recreational, skills building activities as needed.
Comply with all MHS and program rules, policies and procedures including HIPAA & 42 CFR Standards.

QUALIFICATIONS
Board of Behavioral Science license eligible in a behavioral health field (ASW, AMFT, APCC,) required. License preferred.
At least two years mental health experience working in the Mental Health field, including clinical experience on a cross- disciplinary team, required.
Per program contact requirements, must satisfactorily complete a Tuberculosis test prior to hire and once annually thereafter.
CPR / First Aid certified
Proficient with Microsoft Office and EHR software
Ability to problem solve and react appropriately to emergency situations
Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team (including other professionals, community contacts, school personnel)
Strong ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
Valid California driver’s license and current auto insurance per contract requirements.
