As the Mental Health Counselor in the Expedited Transition Services (XTS) program, you will support the clinical treatment and provide consistent behavioral support to youth and caregivers/families. You will engage youth and caregivers/families in activities both in their home/placement locations and off campus with the goal of helping youth and caregivers/families to make progress towards goals, increase independence, and experience success and stability.
ABOUT ETS
Expedited Transition Services (ETS) provide prevention and stabilization-oriented services designed to support young people and their caregivers before, during and after placement changes. Program staff support the clinical treatment and provide consistent behavioral support to youth and caregivers/families. They engage youth and caregivers/families in activities both in their home/placement locations and in the community with the goal of helping youth and caregivers/families to make progress toward goals, increase independence, and experience success and stability.

Responsibilities:
Provide steady interaction with client and caregivers/families to establish connection, identify strengths and needs, and with interventions aimed at supporting them in their mental health treatment goals.
Offer consistency and behavioral limits through relationship-based interventions.
Assist in identifying significant safety risks and provide support to mitigate risks to the greatest extent possible.
Provide behavioral counseling, case management and collateral services to ensure the stability and step-down transition of clients and their caregivers to community-based resources.
Support caregivers and placement staff with implementation of clients’ treatment goals and guide them in trauma-focused behavioral responses.
Assist with planning for transportation arrangements for school, medical, social activities, therapy appointments, and court hearings as needed.
Participate in Child and Family Team Meetings (CFTMs), IEP’s, supervision and other agency/county/state meetings when necessary.
Complete mental health progress notes, incident reports, and additional documentation according to agency’s documentation quality and timeliness standards.
Provide crisis intervention as needed.
Qualifications: REQUIRED: Education/Experience Requirements:
BA/BS Degree in Psychology, Early Childhood Education/Development OR
Associates and 1 year of applicable experience OR
HS Diploma/GED + 2 years of applicable experience
Applicable experience includes experience in a group home, STRTP, or substance abuse treatment program.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Own vehicle, California driver’s license and insurance.
Clearance of TB test, fingerprints and any other mandatory state/federal requirements.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required.
PREFERRED:
Bilingual in Spanish/English.
Child Development Teaching Permit a plus.
Alcohol and Drug Counselor Certificate and 100 hours experience working with youth a plus.
Schedule:
Full-time
Monday - Friday
10am - 6PM
On-Call availability as needed.
Schedule varies during onboarding period.

Starting at $20 to $22.50 per hour, actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualification.
Additional compensation upon passing bilingual proficiency exam.
