Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Optometrist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of eye care practices and demonstrate exceptional customer service skills. As an Optometrist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosing visual problems, and prescribing corrective lenses or treatments. You will play a vital role in enhancing the vision health of our patients while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough eye examinations to assess vision and detect eye diseases.
  • Diagnose and manage ocular conditions, including prescribing medications as needed.
  • Provide patients with accurate prescriptions for eyeglasses and contact lenses.
  • Maintain detailed medical records in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Educate patients on proper eye care practices and the use of corrective lenses.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Stay updated on advancements in optometry practices, technologies, and treatments.
  • Utilize medical coding for billing purposes and ensure accuracy in patient records.
  • Assist in the training of support staff on aseptic techniques and patient management.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid state licensure to practice optometry.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to eye care.
  • Familiarity with systems used for managing medical records and patient information.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on patient satisfaction.
  • Understanding of physiology related to vision health.
  • Ability to perform vital signs assessments as part of patient evaluations.
  • Experience in sales is a plus, particularly in recommending eyewear products.
  • Knowledge of medical coding practices is advantageous.
