About us

We are a solo private medical practice, specializing in Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep medicine services. Commonly, patients see us for the following conditions: asthma, COPD, lung nodule, lung cancer, pulmonary embolism, pulmonary hypertension, interstitial lung diseases, obstructive sleep apnea.

Our physician, Dr. Jerry Hsieh, rounds at the hospital daily for pulmonary and critical care service. Thereafter, he will see patients in the office. Patients may be scheduled as telehealth/virtual online visits, or in person.

Our prospective candidate will work closely with our outstanding office manager (Phoebe) on a full time basis. We also have two full time virtual assistants (remote) and part time students that help us out.

Lunch is often provided, based on scheduling with vendors.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a versatile and skilled Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. As we are a small private practice, the ideal candidate will be proficient in both front and back office duties. This position will be predominantly back office work, but will on occasion require front office duties as well. Cross-training is provided for all staff members to perform both front and back office work. We see patients on average 20 hours per week, allotting 20-30 minutes per patient. During non-clinical hours, all staff members help each other with administrative tasks.

General tasks include working as a receptionist, requesting medical authorizations, organizing electronic medical records, obtaining intake information from patients, requesting records from other facilities, checking out patients and administering medications (biologics). We value someone who can succeed in a task-oriented environment, exhibiting critical thinking to solve problems as they arise.

Back Office Duties:

Clinical Support:

  • Assist physician during examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Set up AI medical scribe encounter.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and medical equipment.
  • Chart prep for future visits to ensure a smooth visit for each patient.

Vital Signs and Patient Assessments:

  • Take and record vital signs accurately.
  • Perform basic patient assessments, documenting findings in electronic health records.
  • Administer medications (specifically subcutaneous injections used for asthma and COPD) and document administration in the EMR.

Front Office Duties:

Receptionist Tasks

  • Greet and assist patients with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Manage appointment scheduling and maintain an organized patient check-in/out process.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to the appropriate personnel.

Authorizations and Documentation:

  • Obtain and verify patient information, insurance details, and other necessary documentation.
  • Facilitate the authorization process for medical procedures, tests, and treatments.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date record-keeping in compliance with healthcare regulations.

Patient Communication:

  • Effectively communicate with patients, providing clear instructions and information regarding appointments, procedures, and follow-up care.
  • Assist in addressing patient concerns and inquiries in a professional and empathetic manner.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a medical assistant program preferred.
  • 2+ years working in a medical office is a plus.
  • Fluency in a second language is a plus. We have a diverse background of patients; the most common languages encountered are Vietnamese, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Familiarity with medical coding systems and practices (ICD-10 and CPT codes).
  • Computer proficiency and familiarity with web applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
