Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
Incumbents perform basic medical, technical and administrative support services for the H.H. Chao Family Comprehensive Digestive Disease Center. Incumbents process routine endoscopes, non-disposable endoscopic equipment, and may provide standby technical assistance for routine endoscopic procedures. Specific duties include administering oral and injected medications. performing and/or assisting with various office procedures. assisting with or performing specimen collection. phlebotomy, collecting and recording patient data. providing patient information as directed. and assisting with patient flow during clinic hours. May assist the front office operations by answering incoming phone calls, maintaining records, preparing reports and updating patient files. Actively works to keep the clinic clean and organized as to meet all aspects of a JCAHO or Dept of Health survey. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Understanding of medical terminology
Must be able to participate in on call rotation and work occasional weekends & evenings
Flexibility to work variable shifts, including occasional weekends or holidays
Excellent customer service skills
Demonstrated completion of a relevant medical training program (i.e., MA, EMT, Surg Tech, GI, etc.)
Current BLS certification
Ability to work well in a constantly changing environment
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
Ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Medical Assistant or GI Technician in an ambulatory care setting
Phlebotomy certification
Bilingual skills in English and Spanish and/or Vietnamese
Ability to be able to work overtime and potential weekend on call
