Matrix Providers is hiring a Phlebotomy Technician (Registered/Certified) to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to our Military Service Members and their families in Oceanside, CA.
Employment Status: Full Time
Compensation: This is an hourly position
Schedule: Sunday through Saturday, between the hours of 6:30 am to 11:00 pm. Shifts will typically be scheduled for a five 8.5 hour period or four 10.5 or three 12.5 hours, to include an uncompensated 30-minute lunch break. Scheduled will be at the discretion of the department.

Requirements: The Phlebotomy Technician (Registered/Certified) must have and meet the following:
Degree: Certificate.
Education: Graduate from an academic course in phlebotomy that includes 120 didactic hours (or required by state law).
Certification: Certification/registration as determined by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or AMT as specified in the TO. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers or American Heart Association or American Red Cross Healthcare Provider Course. HCWs who do not hold current certification must acquire certification before initiating contract performance.
Experience: Completed 1040 hours as a Phlebotomy Technician within the past 3 years. Must have performed 50 successful venipuncture and 10 successful skin punctures.
Job Summary:
Collect blood samples from patients.
Practice proper patient identification, especially when working on hospital floors.
Label vials with patient names and dates.
Decipher the best method for drawing blood depending on the specific patient.
Transport all specimen samples to a nearby laboratory.
Centrifuge blood samples, depending on if this is allowed in the state you are working in.
Expect to work with many patients varying in age and health status.
Practice infection control standards at all times when working with patients and equipment.
General Duties:
Contractor personnel shall perform a full range of duties consistent with their labor category, education, training, experience, clinical privileges (as applicable), and assigned position. General duties for all personnel or across specific labor categories are given below.
Maintain a productivity level comparable to that of other individuals performing similar services.
Participate in peer review and performance improvement activities.
Practice aseptic techniques as necessary. Comply with infection control guidelines to include the proper handling, storage, and disposal of infectious wastes and the use of universal precautions to prevent the spread of infection.
Function with an awareness and application of safety procedures.
Perform efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events. Anticipate potential problems/emergencies and make appropriate interventions. Notify the supervisor, director, or other designated person regarding problems the HCW cannot manage.
Apply an awareness of legal issues in all aspects of patient care and strive to manage situations in a reduced-risk manner.
Participate in the implementation of the Family Advocacy Program as directed. Participation shall include, but not be limited to, appropriate medical examination, documentation, and reporting.
Exercise awareness and sensitivity to patient/significant others' rights, as identified within the MTF.
Maintain an awareness of responsibility and accountability for own professional practice.
Participate in continuing education to meet own professional growth.
Attend and/or comply with all annual training classes required by the Command, including but not limited to annual online training provided by the MTF: disaster training, infection control, Sexual Harassment, Bloodborne Pathogens, Fire and Safety, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE), and all other required training.
Actively participate in the Command's Performance Improvement Program. Participate in meetings to review and evaluate patient care, identify opportunities to improve the care delivered, and recommend corrective action when problems exist.
Participate in the provision of in-service training to clinic staff members. Provide training and/or direction applicable to supporting government personnel (e.g., hospital corpsmen, students, etc.).
Attend and participate in various meetings as directed.
Perform timely, accurate, and concise documentation of patient care.
Operate and manipulate automated Clinical Information Systems (CIS) such as MHS GENESIS, participate in clinical staff Performance Improvement (PI) and Risk Management (RM) functions as prescribed by the Commander. Maintain DOD email account as directed. The HCW shall be responsive to all email and voicemail communications.
Exercise appropriate delegation of tasks and duties in the direction and coordination of health care team members, patient care, and clinic activities.
Maintain documentation of all treatment provided by clinic directives and prepare such records and reports as required. All records and reports must be legible. Abbreviations must be only those listed in local instructions.
