Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
Under supervision of the Admit Worker Manager of designee, incumbent is responsible for scheduling patients for Interventional Radiology (IR) procedures. Assures all necessary paperwork is completed and forwarded to appropriate departments. Assists in determining if the patient's source of funding covers proposed surgery/procedure and inquires about expiration dates. Determines that physician documentation reflects need for proposed surgery/procedure. Coordinates procedure date and time based on physician, staff, room and anesthesiologist availability/schedule. Communicates effectively with patients in order to obtain demographic and financial data. Provides accurate wait time estimates when available. Acts as a liaison between admissions, other departments and IR. Notifies departments, services, physicians and the patient if procedure date/time is rescheduled and updates all as necessary. Responsible for inputting demographic and financial data into the SMS System following basic computer flows and codes.

Required Qualifications:
Must demonstrate general understanding of medical terminology
Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes
Experience with computer software programs such as MS Office, Signature, TDS
Experience in a hospital or medical office setting
Demonstrated knowledge of registration, third party payers, government funded programs, and managed care
Demonstrated experience with referral authorization process
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as an admitting worker or surgery scheduler
Familiarity with UC policies and procedures
Familiarity of JCAHO requirements
