Quality Assurance Specialist

Position: Quality Assurance Specialist

Salary: $17.00 - $32.00 per hour (Depending on education, experience, skillset and hiring site)

Schedule: Monday -Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm

Position Summary: The Quality Assurance Specialist (QAS) will review patient files to ensure all state and county requirements are met for compliance. The QAS will have a strong knowledge of time management and organizing data for simplicity and long-term storage. The QAS will help staff to improve services to patients which will in turn will increase adequate services for the agency by strategizing efficient documentation and utilization practices. The Quality Assurance Specialist will report to the Quality Assurance Manager.

Job Duties:

  • Maintain site spreadsheets and data for county, state, and CARF standards.
  • Audit patient files to ensure all compliance requirements are met.
  • Ensure staff documentation on patient profiles is timely and accurate.
  • Ensure draft notes are finalized within 48 hours of services being provided.
  • Ensure master active list (ODS) and master active list for medication assisted treatment (MAT) are up to date.
  • Ensure SAGE profiles are complete before authorization.
  • Ensure all treatment provided is prescribed in the treatment plan.
  • Be able to meet fast and short deadlines.
  • Communicate with Director of QA/UM, QA Manager, Program Manager and staff concerning corrections needed based on chart reviews.
  • Maintain electronic documents, spreadsheets, and other files for review by QA Manager
  • Stay up to date on all Federal, State, County and CARF requirements and be able to inform staff of any changes.
  • Other tasks as requested by the QA Manager.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Live Scan clearance, pre-employment physical, TB test and drug test.
  • Excellent writing and computer skills.
  • Must have the ability to work independently, demonstrate flexibility, and pay close attention to detail. Knowledge of QA policies and procedures preferred
  • Must be knowledgeable of health record documentation; with the ability to conduct detailed reviews of program charts, formally report QA findings and follow-ups accordingly.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Sciences, health care or related field - preferred Experience: 1-year in substance use disorder field - preferred Specific skills: Excel, Google spreadsheets, SAGE Certifications: Certified AOD counselor (CCAPP, CAADE, CADCA) or active BBS # - preferred

Must be able to pass the following pre-employment screenings:

  • Background check, including criminal history (LA CADA considers all applicants equally and will take into account each applicant’s individual life circumstances).
  • Drug and health screen, including negative TB test
  • Employment and education verification
