Job Summary
The Referral Coordinator plays a crucial role in the healthcare setting by managing patient referrals efficiently. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills to ensure seamless coordination between patients, providers, and specialists.
Duties
- Coordinate patient referrals to specialists or other healthcare providers
- Obtain necessary authorizations and insurance verifications for referrals
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date referral records in compliance with healthcare regulations
- Communicate with patients, providers, and insurance companies regarding referral status
- Assist in scheduling appointments for patients with referred providers
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure timely and appropriate referrals
- Utilize medical coding knowledge to process referrals accurately
Experience
- Prior experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred
- Proficiency in medical terminology, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding systems
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes and managed care guidelines
- Strong understanding of medical records management
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
