Full Job Description
The individual acts as a medical assistant in Clinical Research in a dermatology medical office. This medical assistant will be working with a team to conduct research evaluating new treatments for medical conditions. This individual performs administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of physicians.
Administrative duties include scheduling appointments, maintaining research/medical records and entering data into electronic records.
Clinical duties include taking vital signs, EKG, interviewing patients to obtain medical histories and medication history and recording information in medical records, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood and administering medications, as directed by physicians.
Collect blood, skin or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens and prepare them for testing.
Explain treatment medication, procedures and physicians’ instructions to patients.
Inventory, order and maintain medical, lab and office supplies and equipment.
Qualification and skills
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Quicken, and WordPerfect.
Ability to independently compose correspondence, design spreadsheets and use databases.
Good communication skills both oral and written. Ability to use proper English grammar and spelling.
Ability to summarize information.
Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks concurrently, and function under time constraints.
Preferred: phlebotomy certificate and/or experience
