Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Lead Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist ophthalmologists in providing eye care services to patients. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and excellent communication skills.

  • We have only ONE office and do not require our employees to travel to other locations.
  • We are a very busy, but compassionate, ophthalmology office with multiple eye doctors.
  • We are looking for an enthusiastic ophthalmic technician.
  • The individual must be compassionate, patient, and fast learner.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Must have a full knowledge on working up patients, such as taking history, vision check, applanation IOP check, Pupil check, ocular motility check, and other pre-exam diagnostic checks
  • Assist Minor procedures, such as chalazion, blepharoplasty, eyelid biopsy, autoclaving, corneal procedures, etc
  • Refill prescriptions, pre-authorize medications, and schedule follow-ups
  • Answer phone calls to address patients' questions and concerns
  • Perform diagnostic testings: OCT, VF, Corneal Topography, Lenstar/IOL Master, A-Scan, etc.
  • Lead ophthalmic technician who can train and assist other junior technicians.
  • Work with other department supervisors to create an efficient work environment.

Qualifications and Skills

  • COA or COT preferred, but willing to train and will financially support for certification process
  • Must have a good knowledge on electronic health records (EHR)
  • Good at fast-paced environment
  • Must be a team player

Experience:

  • Ophthalmology: 5+ years (Preferred)
  • Optometry: 1+ year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • COA or COT (Preferred)

Work Location: In person

Experience:
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and compliance
- Familiarity with retail math for optical sales
- Experience in an optical setting preferred
- Understanding of medical billing processes
- Ability to handle front desk duties efficiently
- Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus
- Sales experience in optical products is beneficial
- Proficiency in medical terminology, physiology, and anatomy
